The chemical formula Al (OH) 3 is a hydroxide of aluminum. Because it has a certain acidity, it can also be called aluminate (H3AlO3). But what actually forms when reacting with alkali is tetrahydroxyaluminate ([Al (OH) 4]-). Therefore, it is usually regarded as metaaluminate monohydrate (HAlO2 · H2O), which is divided into industrial grade and pharmaceutical grade according to the purpose.
The anti-acid effect is slow, long-lasting, strong, has astringent effect, has a mucosal protective effect, leads to constipation, does not produce CO2 (carbon dioxide), no acid rebound, no alkalinity.
Aluminum hydroxide reacts with acid: Al (OH) 3 + 3HCl == AlCl3 + 3H2O (can be used to neutralize stomach acid)

Crystallized aluminum hydroxide is different from hydrated alumina. It is insoluble in acid. It is not dehydrated when heated to 373K. It can be converted to aluminum hydroxide (AlO (OH)) after heating at 573K for 2h.
Aluminum hydroxide is an amphoteric hydroxide. Because of its two ionization forms, it is both a weak acid and can have the acid formula H3AlO3, and a weak base, which can have the basic formula Al (OH) 3. Aluminum hydroxide is amphoteric and can react with both acid and alkali.
The acidity of aluminum hydroxide is that it is a Lewis acid that can add OH-, thus reflecting the basicity
Due to the existence of two kinds of ionization, Al (OH) 3 can produce two kinds of salts: two kinds of aluminum salts:
⒈Aluminum salt: Al3 + AlCl3, KAl (SO4) 2 · 12H2O (alum). Their aqueous solution is acidic due to the hydrolysis of Al3 +. AgNO3 and dilute nitric acid are added dropwise, and the white precipitate is Cl-; the light yellow precipitate is Br-; the yellow precipitate is I-
